Why I Fight for LGBTQ Equality

The end of Pride Month got me thinking about my Uncle Billy. He was so much fun to be with. On Sundays he made brunch and we gathered around the table singing Irish ballads and reciting poetry. Billy was gay. Being gay was illegal then. One night he was arrested for sodomy. After that he was fired from his job as a social worker. It upended his life, but it didn’t change who he was.
